Shipping & Packaging Help

Measure, weigh and pack for an accurate quote.

A quote is only as accurate as the size and weight you enter. Here is how the quote form uses them.

Where we ship at launch

We currently ship parcels within Canada: the sender and the recipient both need a Canadian address. International shipping is not offered yet.

Because domestic parcels do not cross a border, the quote form never asks for customs details such as HS codes or country of origin.

Measuring your box

Measure the outside of the packed box - length, width and height - in centimetres or inches, and round up to the next whole unit. Choose cm or in on the form; you do not need to convert.

Carriers can charge by a parcel's size as well as its weight, so a box measured too small can be re-billed after pickup. Measure the box you will actually ship, including any bulge.

  • Use a sturdy box with room for padding on every side.
  • Seal every seam and remove old labels and barcodes.
  • Put the label on the largest flat side, not over a seam.

Weighing what you send

For each kind of item, enter the weight of one item and the quantity. The form adds them up (weight x quantity) to get the shipment's total, shown under the items.

Include the weight of the box and packing material in your items - weigh one packed item if you can.

One box or several

If your shipment is several boxes of the same size, enter the size once and the number of boxes (1 to 50). The total weight is shared equally between them, and the form shows the weight per box.

The form refuses a shipment heavier than 1000 kg in total. Boxes of different sizes need separate quotes.

Shipping the same box again

Signed in, you can save a box you use often and pick it on the quote form, and Ship Again from your dashboard copies a previous shipment's addresses, items and box - you can change anything before getting fresh rates.

Worked examples

Several items in one box

When one box is too heavy

Above 30 kg in one box the form warns you - many services will not quote it. If the goods can travel in separate boxes, enter the number of boxes.
